Adventure in the air: a helicopter flight with your dog in an AS350 helicopter

A helicopter flight is a unique experience, offering spectacular views and lasting memories. The combination of the vibration of the rotors and the sensation of floating over the Alps creates a very special feeling.

But what is it like when you don't experience this adventure alone, but get to share it with your four-legged companion? What may sound a little contradictory at first is made possible with us: a sightseeing flight in the AS350, one of the most popular helicopters for passenger flights – and your dog can come on board too.

The helicopter: Airbus AS350 – reliable, powerful, and above all comfortable

Before we start with the animal part of the adventure, it's worth taking a quick look at the helicopter itself. The Airbus Helicopter AS350 is a single-engine multi-purpose helicopter with sporty characteristics. It is used successfully worldwide for various missions – in our case mainly for transfers and luxury sightseeing flights, but also for transport flights and work assignments.

What makes it special: the AS350 offers impressive performance even at high altitudes and in hot temperatures, making it ideal for mountainous regions and summer sightseeing flights. The cabin is very spacious and offers enough room for up to five passengers and the pilot, with large windows guaranteeing the best view from all seats.
The cabin also offers sufficient space for a dog, enabling stress-free, comfortable, and safe travel for them. The typically smooth flight characteristics of the AS350 helicopter prevent abrupt rocking, ensure stable flight attitude, and help animal passengers get used to the unfamiliar situation in the helicopter relatively quickly.

How do I prepare my dog for the helicopter flight?

A helicopter flight is loud and unfamiliar for animals—this should not be underestimated. Nevertheless, we have had consistently positive experiences so far. Most of the dogs that fly with us are relaxed and calm. Important for a pleasant journey: a comfortable place to retreat to in the cabin and appropriate preparation. You are welcome to bring a familiar mat for your dog to sit or lie on.

Before takeoff, it is advisable to tire your dog out (a long walk can help) and give it enough time to rest so that it can enjoy the flight.

Bring treats and/or your dog's favorite toy and give it enough time to get used to the cabin environment.

To protect the crew, fellow passengers, and your dog, we ask that you bring a suitable muzzle and leash that can be used if necessary. Your dog may be particularly sensitive to increased stress in unfamiliar situations, such as at security checks or during its first flight. A muzzle helps to ensure safety and relaxation for everyone involved in such moments.

For longer flights, we recommend having your dog examined by a veterinarian in advance to ensure that your four-legged friend is fit to fly.

For international flights within Europe, we ask that you bring your EU pet passport with you. Your veterinarian will advise you on all the necessary vaccinations for travel within Europe.

Our experience so far: a healthy mix of excitement and calmness

"When boarding and taking off in the AS350 helicopter, my dog was a little hesitant at first, because the loud engine noise and vibrations were, of course, nothing he was used to in his everyday life. Once we were in the air, he relaxed amazingly quickly and even lay down quite quickly. I sat right next to him – he calmly observed his surroundings and even slept for a while."

“The flight itself was spectacular: we flew over forests, mountains, and lakes—the view was fantastic thanks to the large windows of the AS350. While I was enthusiastically taking photos, I kept an eye on my very sensitive dog. He panted a little, but showed no signs of fear or panic. A transfer flight that definitely saved us a long and tedious car journey.”

After the flight: A happy dog – and an unforgettable experience

After landing, the dogs are often a little tired, but visibly relaxed. No signs of stress or anxiety – our customers are regularly delighted at how well and easily a helicopter flight with four-legged companions works.

The flight in the AS350 is a real adventure not only for you, but also for your dog. It clearly shows that traveling with your dog is also possible and safe in the air.

Stress-free and fast travel instead of hours in the car

It is well known that long car journeys are very stressful for your companion. The cramped dog crate, little freedom of movement, and hours of boredom. This can quickly turn into a stressful start to the vacation for everyone involved.

A helicopter flight with your dog can be considered a practical alternative to long car journeys. For example, if you are planning a shuttle flight between your holiday destination and your home town, you can save yourself and your dog a lot of stress.

Instead of hours of traffic jams in a hot car or the tedious drive along narrow, small roads and winding mountain passes, your dog will travel quickly, comfortably, and safely in the AS350. This will make the first leg of the journey a relaxing experience for you and your dog and also get your vacation off to a great start.

Traveling with your dog in a helicopter – stress-free and uncomplicated

A flight in an AS350 with your dog can be an unforgettable adventure you share together, and it is absolutely uncomplicated.

With its spacious cabin, smooth flight, and large windows, the AS350 is perfect for special experiences and projects like this.
If you want to give your four-legged friend an extraordinary adventure or spare them a long, nerve-wracking car journey, you should definitely consider flying with your dog in a helicopter – and experience something extraordinary yourself.
